#### Changes to the Special Leave Regime
##### Background
##### On the 30th of April 2026, Malta published the Minimum Special Leave Entitlement (Amendment) Regulations 2025.
The Regulations will enter into force as from the 30th of June 2026 (and effectively, the second half of 2026).
##### Update to Bereavement Leave Regime
The Regulations increase Bereavement Leave entitlement to three (3) working days \[previously one (1) working day].
##### Update to Marriage Leave Regime
The Regulations also increase Marriage Leave entitlement to three (3) working days \[previously two (2) working days].
##### Update to Conditions of Work Regulation Orders
###### General
Malta also published thirty-two Regulation Orders, each superseding (and effectively repealing) the current Wage Regulation Orders (each applicable to a separate industry/category of workers).
The Regulation Orders re-establish minimum weekly wages, as well as overtime compensation for certain categories of employees.
The Regulation Orders will also come into effect as from the 30th of June 2026 (and effectively, from the second half of 2026).
